Welcome to Gin Gin

Gin Gin is located on the Bruce Hwy, approximately 51 kilometres west of Bundaberg and 370 kilometres north-west of Brisbane, the state capital. The town owes its existence to its strategic location about halfway between Brisbane and Rockhampton. It is often used as a stop-over point for drivers travelling between these two centres.

Employment

Gin Gin is a rural service town surrounded by fields of sugar cane, citrus orchards, grazing beef cattle and small specialist crops. Gin Gin also has a growing service sector and small business. Job opportunities are also available in Bundaberg only being 35-minute drive. The town has survived and flourished because it is located on the main road from Brisbane to Cairns and is almost exactly halfway between Brisbane and Rockhampton. It is an ideal place to take a break.

Gin Gin State School has been servicing the Gin Gin and surrounding areas since 1890. We cater for over 220 students from prep to year 6 and growing.
Gin Gin State School offers a broad academic program with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy. We are proud to offer a variety of extra-curricular programs aimed at increasing student aspirations.
Gin Gin School provides the Gin Gin community with a supportive small school environment where students can learn and thrive. Gin Gin High is a co-educational school with approximately 450 students, situated fifty kilometres west of Bundaberg in the Wide Bay Region in Queensland.

Gin Gin Hospital


The Gin Gin Hospital is an acute bed facility which provides outpatient, emergency, pharmacy, general medicine and palliative care services.
Outpatient services include child health, immunisation clinics, orthopaedics, physiotherapy, speech pathology, diabetes education, podiatry and community mental health.
The Community Consultative Committee was established in 2014 to provide the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Board and the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service with a source of independent advice and suggestion that tapped the experience of health service users.

They are all extremely professional and members of our community, so they are often looking after people they know.
